In January 2018 our District Councils were informed about plans for a public consultation. This was to ensure that OUR community had the right to comment on proposals to site a Geological Disposal Facility (GDF) for radioactive waste across the North of Ireland.
Why did our elected representatives and councils not immediately share this information with the public? Why did they not hold a series of public meetings across the entire Crotlieve area to inform our community about these plans? Why did they not give US a chance to respond with a resounding NO to the disposal of nuclear waste in our area?
I am extremely passionate about the environment and our children’s health & well being: they are at the very core of my election campaign and I pledge that if elected on the 2nd of May to never hide anything from the public, especially something of such great importance.
I am not afraid to ask the difficult questions and stand strong on your behalf. To speak up for the issues that really matter, when the time is right …not when the time has passed.
